About
Fair warning - get ready for a BIG OLD RANT…
I believe that too many people spend too much time at work, being inefficient and missing out on life. They work 40, 50 even 60 hours a week just to spend their weekends recovering from another exhausting, soul-destroying week at work or getting ready for the forthcoming week (dry cleaning done, grocery shopping, maybe get a few emails in to get a head start on the week while others are relaxing).
If they do go out all the other rat racers are out in force and everywhere is too busy to be pleasant. Shops are packed. Bars are packed. The movies are packed. And so on.
It’s the same during the week - their time is carefully controlled by the company they work for to such an extent that pretty much everyone starts and finishes work at the same time meaning you spend hours each week packed into a train like a sardine in a tin or sitting stationary in a traffic jam.
They do all this while going round and round in circles, spending their money on things they don’t need to try and keep up with the Joneses while slowly sinking deeper and deeper into debt and poor health.
Their job leaves little “down time” to see their friends and families or to really enjoy the fruits of their labour in hobbies and pastimes that really matter to them.
The lifestyle I have just described is lived by 90% of the first world population - and it’s my idea of hell. This blog is my own personal slap in the face to that lifestyle.
It’s about not wanting to compromise - to get a job just so I can have credit and buy a house. Why do we have to half-kill ourselves just to stay afloat?
Personally, I want to enjoy life and take time to do the things that matter to me and this blog is my journey toward that goal. Toward freedom and sunshine. Towards not having a boss or anyone else tell you want to do. Ultimately, it’d about lifestyle design.
Topics are likely to feature internet marketing as a way to escape from the rat race, events and things I get up to, goal setting and more.
If you’re keen to design your ideal lifestyle then I hope you’ll join me on this journey and get involved - your comments are highly appreciated!
RANT OVER!
